General Range and Safety Rules

These rules apply to all Warrington Sporting Clays ranges and property.

PURPOSE: These rules and procedures are for the safety and comfort of its members, guests, the surrounding communities, and the environment, and to preserve Warrington Sporting Clays as a facility for the safe use of firearms. Any violation of the rules or procedures may result in suspension or cancellation of Warrington Sporting Clays’ membership without notice.

  1. Eye and ear protection is REQUIRED for all shooting. It is strongly recommended that eye and ear protection be worn at all times while on Warrington Sporting Clays property. You assume all responsibility for any injury you incur by not wearing adequate eye and ear protection.
  2. All posted signs must be obeyed.
  3. OBSERVE THE NRA GUN SAFETY RULES:
    1. Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
    2. Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
    3. Always keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.
  4. WHEN USING OR STORING A GUN, ALWAYS FOLLOW THESE NRA RULES:
    1. Know your target and what is beyond.
    2. Know how to use the gun safely.
    3. Be sure the gun is safe to operate.
    4. Use only the correct ammunition for your gun.
    5. Wear eye and ear protection as appropriate.
    6. Never use alcohol or drugs before or while shooting.
    7. Store your guns so they are not accessible to unauthorized persons.
    8. Be aware that certain types of guns and many shooting activities require additional safety precautions.
  5. No alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, or illegal substances are permitted on Warrington Sporting Clays property. Persons under the influence or alcohol, drugs, or other intoxicants are not permitted on Warrington Sporting Clays property. Persons who appear to be under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or other intoxicants who are on Warrington Sporting Clays property will be asked to leave, and may have their membership privileges suspended or revoked for failure to do so and risk possible legal action against themselves.
  6. Disruptive activities, such as loud music or horseplay, are not permitted on Warrington Sporting Clays property.
  7. FOR ANYONE UNDER THE AGE OF 18: They must be accompanied by an adult at ALL times. The responsible adult will closely supervise their shooting and firearms handling and will be responsible for the minor’s actions. Anyone under the age of 18 who has successfully completed the state mandated Hunter’s Education program and wishes to become a Junior member is required to bring a copy of this certificate for the Warrington Sporting Clays files.
  8. Except when shooting on a designated range, NO loaded guns may be carried on Warrington Sporting Clays property except by uniformed law enforcement or U.S. military personnel, or citizens and law enforcement personnel who are entitled to carry a concealed firearm under Pennsylvania or federal statute. Proper documentation must be shown and recorded with Warrington Sporting Clays. All guns shall be carried or resting with safety on, unloaded chamber open or broken down, in full display of being safe.
  9. Firearms may be loaded ONLY on the firing line. Firearms not on the firing line must have their actions open, be broken down, and magazines removed, unless the firearm is cased or holstered. Uncased guns carried behind the firing line should have their muzzles pointing up. Firearms must not be pointed at persons or property.
  10. All shooting will be on designated ranges only.
  11. There shall be no firing at or from range buildings. Bullet impacts off the range, into side berms, into structures, or into any other range features which are unauthorized for bullet impacts are strictly prohibited.
  12. No airborne targets may be used except for regulation clay targets on the skeet, and sporting clays’ shotgun ranges, or targets that have prior approval from the Warrington Sporting Clays management.
  13. Shooting crow-range at extreme angles on ranges with multiple firing points is prohibited.
  14. Shooting at wildlife is strictly prohibited.
  15. Live or misfired ammo must be removed from the range, and NOT be placed in any disposal container on the property. Do not leave used targets, brass, cleaning patches, etc. on the range. CLEAN UP THE RANGE BEFORE LEAVING.
  16. Fully automatic firearms are not allowed on Warrington Sporting Clays property. NO HIGH BRASS AMMUNITION IS ALLOWED.
  17. All shooting must be deliberate, controlled, and aimed fire. Uncontrolled firing is firing from the hip, or any other firing where the firearm is not aimed by having the shooter’s eye aligned with the firearm signs. Shotguns must be fired while the butt of the stock is against the shoulder. ABSOLUTELY NO “BUMP FIRING” PERMITTED.
  18. Firearms may never sweep or be pointed at anyone at any time, regardless of the loaded or unloaded condition of the firearm.
  19. Any time someone is down range, all weapons will be grounded, benched, or placed in the weapons’ rack. There is to be no weapons’ handling during this time period.
  20. Smoking is prohibited within any building on the property or on the range.
  21. Warrington Sporting Clays management has the right to revoke or deny any membership at any time verbally or in writing without refund.
  22. Any exceptions, modifications, or additions to Warrington Sporting Clays rules and procedures for individual members or guests must be approved by the Warrington Sporting Clays management. An Activities Chairman who is authorized by the Warrington Sporting Clays management to conduct competitive matches, is the individual who is responsible for the safe conduct of these activities, and may modify  these Range Rules for the purpose for the conducting matches or activities but only with the approval of the Warrington Sporting Clays management.
  23. All fees, rules, and material are subject to change without warning.
  24. CEASE FIRE PROCEDURE
    1. The purpose of a Cease Fire command is to make the range safe when shooters are on the firing line. As such, the Cease Fire command may be issued by anyone who is on the range, regardless of rank or status.
    2. A Cease Fire command shall be issued when any of the following occurs:
      1. A safety violation has occurred.
      2. Any other time that the range needs to become safe for others on or entering the range.
    3. When the Cease Fire command is heard, all firearms shall immediately be unloaded and detachable magazines removed. The actions shall be fixed open and firearms benched, grounded, or properly holstered and secured, with the muzzle pointing downrange for the duration of the Cease Fire.
    4. When a Cease Fire is called, the safe range condition must be verbally acknowledged by the trapper on that range.
    5. During a Cease Fire, no firearms may be handled.
